Nourishing Communities. Protecting the Earth.

Our mission is to eliminate plastics that are killing our earth and ourselves, while lowering Massachusetts' status, ranking third in the country for food insecurity.

Our Mission

Why we do what we do.

Massachusetts currently ranks third in the country for food insecurity. With high costs of living and rent, alongside tight grocery store margins, our state is especially vulnerable. In fact, 1.9 million adults in Massachusetts are food insecure, an increase from an estimated 1.8 million in 2022 (Greater Boston Food Bank, 2024).

At the same time, plastics are killing our earth and ourselves. We are learning more and more how plastic chemicals are leeching into our food. We knew there had to be a better way to feed our communities without harming the planet.

Buying in bulk is good for the planet, period. It requires less packaging, provides a greater selection of healthy foods, and lets you focus on quality.

Plastic-Free

Our Commitment

Every decision we make is rooted in sustainability, local enrichment, and community access.

Zero Plastic Packaging

Orders are individually packaged in "waxed" (shiny heated wood pulp, not actual wax) glassine paper bags (compostable/recyclable), and tin tie paper bags with a biodegradable liner (commercially compostable after removing the tin tie). Our newest cellophane bags are certified BPI and home compostable by TUV. All are approved by Black Earth Composting.

Local First

Local food travels shorter distances, requiring less fossil fuels, carbon emissions, and environmental impact. In addition, we enrich our local economy and residents, and proudly operate as a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) in Boston!

SNAP/EBT Accessible

We take SNAP/EBT! Please send us an email through the "Contact" page and let us know you want to use SNAP/EBT. We will work with you to put the order through smoothly.

Flexible Fulfillment

Pick up at partnering locations across Greater Boston, organize a corporate drop-off, or enjoy free home delivery for orders over $200. We're also shipping!

Woman preparing healthy food

Our Story

Meet the Founder.

Founder Alys Myers was a longtime employee of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where she chaired the Recycling Committee and managed environmental & sustainability projects. A lifetime artist and lifelong entrepreneur, Alys uses her unique skills to problem-solve with a keen eye for society and culture.

During a period of reflection after leaving MGH, Alys was driven to create a sustainable grocery model based on her experiences with the projects at MGH. After learning that Massachusetts ranks third in the nation for food insecurity, she was inspired to build a company that serves communities in Boston who lack easy access to a grocery store, delivering dry bulk foods directly to them.

Selling food in bulk is her way of reducing food packaging. She wanted to sell it in the quantities people actually need, rather than what suits the manufacturers of packaged foods. Most importantly, she wanted it to be PLASTIC FREE, as we continue to learn how plastic chemicals leech into our environment and bodies.
