Split red lentils are made from splitting the whole red lentil. The skin is removed and the remaining reddish-orange seed is then split into two halves. in general, lentils are high in fibre, low in fat and sodium and are cholesterol free. They are also high in protein, fibre, complex carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, especially B vitamins, potassium, iron, phosphorus and zinc. Certified organic & kosher.
Cooking Instructions:
Rinse lentils and remove any off-looking ones. Combine 3 cups water or stock and 1 cup lentils in a medium to large pot. Bring to a boil, cover tightly, and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until tender. Season to taste with salt after they are cooked to preferred texture.
