Use a 2:1 water to rice ratio. Rinse 1 cup rice well before combining with 2 cups water and a hefty pinch or half a teaspoon of salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir, reduce heat, and cover. Let simmer for 45 minutes without stirring. After 50 minutes or when water has been absorbed, remove from heat, let sit 10 minutes covered, then fluff with a fork and serve. For additional flavor, use broth instead of water and add a tablespoon or two of butter with the salt.
